We welcomed over 800 women police officers through our traditional haka pōwhiri at our marae, Ōrākei alongside our iwi, Ngāti Whātua. After the pōwhiri, Te Whare Karioi then met busloads of all 800 police officers, and our taua (war troop of men and women) led them in a parade from Silo Park to The Cloud. It was a historic moment for women in police.
The feedback from Wendy Spiller – Director of International Policing regarding this important kaupapa was overwhelmingly positive. “It was exceptional and your support and contribution to making our conference a success has really been acknowledged. We delivered something special that has been embraced around the world.”
